"  On the Representation of a Number as the Sum of 2, 4, or 8 Squares "
  Jiakun Pan

Abstract

For fixed k>0, let's denote the number of points whose coordinates are integers on the sphere of radius square root of n and dimension k by r_k(n). In this seminar I'm going to show how to compute the function when k = 2, 4, and 8 in different ways. Acquaintance with Algebra and Complex Analysis should be helpful.
