Abstract
Finite fields have excellent properties and so do the functions over them, while things are not as satisfactory when it's just a finite commutative ring. In this talk I will discuss polynomial permutations over such rings, and focus on the structure of the group of polynomial permutations over a special ring - the 2nd Witt ring of an arbitrary finite field. Some elementary knowledge about the semi-direct product of groups, finite fields, and algebraic number theory should be helpful.
