Abstract
Finitely constrained groups are infinite groups of tree automorphisms defined using finite groups. As such, they are an analog of shifts of finite type in symbolic dynamics. It turns out that finitely constrained groups connect to group theory, topology, dynamical systems, computer science, fractal geometry, and more. In this talk, we will introduce basic notions and examples of these fascinating structures.
