Title: Flag Varieties and Real Enumerative Geometry
Abstract:
We will begin by discussing the basic definitions and properties
of an ubiquitous class of objects in algebraic geometry, the flag
varieties. These spaces are particularly interesting because they have
many properties which can be understood combinatorially, and facts about
them obtained by this approach often have interesting applications. To
illustrate these ideas, we will discuss recent work in real enumerative
geometry by Ruffo, Sivan, Soprunova, and Sottile, and Eremenko and
Gabrielov, among others.
